DIGITAL SIGNAGE

Rapid growth in the use of digital displays in the corporate environment has reflected in their growing sales. Digital displays serve as a robust and compelling solution that enables companies to achieve a higher return on investment. Digital signage consists of two main parts – hardware and software.

The right hardware for digital signage

Everyone who has experience with this field will tell you that, for several reasons, it pays to have professional panels (screens). Surely, some might argue that it is possible to use standard TVs. BUT there is a catch to his approach.
Comparison with professional panels:
  • They don’t have a TV tuner, which is a big advantage since you don’t have to pay mandatory fees (for the TV receiver, royalties)
  • 24/7 operation is guaranteed with a 3-year warranty (sometimes up to 5 years)
  • You get tools to remotely control the panel – on/off, adjusting sound, brightness, and others
  • Mounting with a VESA mount
  • Landscape and portrait orientation
  • High luminosity range compared to classic panels (350–2500 cd/m2)
  • Protection against still image burn-in
  • All-in-one solution, including integrated touch layers
  • Advanced SoC technology – the panel does not need other HW such as a computer to store and play content
Most manufacturers of classic TVs also offer professional panels, with the biggest producers being Samsung, LG, Philips, NEC, and others. Recently, new brands such as HikVision, previously known for other products, have entered the field.

How to manage and plan what is screened on the panel

The moment you buy a panel, you need to decide how to upload content to it, how to change it, and similar issues. Everyone’s first idea is to use USB sticks. Sometimes that really is the answer, but if the panel is in a place where USB ports are hard to reach, or there are multiple panels in different places around the world, or you want to save time, then there are SW solutions to do it for you. From the creation and compilation of playlists, including transitions between content, through to presentation scheduling and reporting.
We tried several third-party solutions, but in the end we created our own, which is fully universal. It doesn’t care whether you have a professional panel or TV, and it can even play content wherever there is a web browser available. It can be connected to many different sources of company data...
